Vegan General Cleaning Solution | Recipe

I’ve been a vegan for a while now, but it’s only been a few months since I switched out my cleaning solutions. As a result, I still have a few bottles of Windex and Lysol under my kitchen sink, BUT the only cleaner I really use, around the entire apartment, is the one I prepared myself.

And this solution cleans everything. I mean it cleans…

  • Mirrors
  • Countertops
  • Tables
  • Dressers
  • Washer/Dryer
  • Faucets
  • Doorknobs
  • Desks
  • Lamps
  • Picture frames
  • Art frames
  • ETC.!

Without further ado, let’s get to it!

For this recipe, you will need…

  1. Apple cider vinegar, white is fine too, because it will be diluted
  2. Warm water
  3. Lemon juice
  4. Your choice of soap, vegan of course (I use Castile soap)

That’s it, people. Use equal parts water and vinegar, so if you have an 8 oz spray bottle, use about 3 oz of water and 3 oz of vinegar. Then to help mask the smell some, add about 1 tbsp of soap. 2 tbsp of lemon juice, and then dilute it all with water until you reach the full 8 oz.

The thing about this is most people think that the vinegar will make their home smell, but I find that after the initial few sprays, the spray stops really smelling like vinegar. I mean how long can it linger on hard surfaces, like tables? It’s not like it’s seeping into the glass top or anything, it isn’t cloth. You’re fine!

Also, vinegar is an amazing product that cleans so well. No streaks on mirrors, tables are sparkly clean, and you can turn right around and use it for cooking if you have plenty of vinegar left after you’ve already used some in your new cleaning solution! For instance, you can even use vinegar as an egg solution in recipes. Awesome.
